MORAL DUTY OF CITIZENS

A Guideline for society means to have a framework to live.

In the middle ages, the guideline was religion and not science.

The middle ages were guided by a kind of pseudo-religious belief where everything was based on something that could not be proven. Although lots of things were discovered at that time.

Saints and their relics were known for their miraculous cures, but they also performed

miracles according to the beliefs of the time.

Society believed in the final battle between good and evil.

This belief led to the disaster of the Crusades. A series of wars based on meaningless

mumbo-jumbo. The point about this is that people, the majority, are led towards

moral belief systems that are without reason. This is not just true of the middle ages

but more recently the war in Vietnam which was just as much of a disaster. In the case

of Vietnam the moral mumbo jumbo was based on the idea that if Vietnam fell to

communism then the rest of Asia would also fall.

These tendencies toward the fantastic in Christian expression

reached their literary peak in the works of Dante  (1265–1321), whose

Divine comedy  depicts the terrifying and attractive visions of Paradise,

Purgatory, and Hell in such a way as to quicken the ultimate powers of the imagination

and thereby draw people toward the possibility of their own salvation.

Most people believed in things like this and this formed a guideline for

a society that was violent misguided and wrong.

It was more or less the same during the so-called Renaissance

notwithstanding the overblown prestige, it has gained.

(The middle ages, everything said and done, was not some dark age that deserves to

be forgotten for there were great innovators who paved the way forward

notwithstanding the guidelines laid down by that society.)

With all this in mind, it has to be said that without civic and moral responsibility

communities become places where it is difficult to live.

We know this from the degradation of some areas of our country.

Virtue ethics are often morals, which is how every individual determines what

is right/good and what is wrong/bad in action.

This, in turn, means that ethics are our guideline to a civilized and well-functioning

society.

For a large part, society determines the existing ethics.

What we can conclude however is that there’s real utility in ethics and thus,

those ethics and human values are important for a balanced, well-functioning society.

Ethics gives us the vision to strive to be the best possible version of our self which benefits ourselves, society, our family and basically the whole world. The point is that with Virtues and morals we become meaningful although

these things cannot take the place of those who ahead of the pack and outside of the

constrictions placed on them by morals in a society nevertheless the majority need

guidelines in how to act . Most people accept the moral guideline of a society even if

it based on untruth, we can only hope that the moral guideline is created by people who

have decent and reasonable ideas if not then the masses can be turned into concentration

camp monsters along with the idea that they think what they are doing is moral.

Decent morals It guides us towards the proper way of conducting ourselves in the world.

Violent behaviour for example is not tolerated in our western society and is considered

unethical behaviour.

If you hit someone in the face then there will be consequences in the form of a fine or

jail time. Some of the most critical voices opinionating on society are those who have

done very little themselves and whose complaints are their only contribution to society

and a liking for pseudo-moral conviction.

This obviously goes hand in hand with intelligence as it is also the ability to understand

what a negative action really means. It often means to say something that you want to be

true but has no basis in fact therefore negating any moral action. We can think about

recent demonstrations over the world which cannot be proved to be true as

in the case of police violence. Also, we can think about the pulling down of statues that

negate all witting or unwitting history. The first step towards Big Brother.

.

Very often we see those who think they have morality on their side causing violence in

the streets to people who have nothing to do with their protest but just happened to be

in the way. This is not an idea but something clear to all.

Exhibitionism disguised as a protest or our friends. Much of what we do as regards

false Morality is basically to look good in the face of others. Most groups do this.

We can also see the negation on Covid by David Icke who is

a well-known opinion maker in the UK who spread the idea all over social media that

covid simply did not exist even though he has no idea of virology

and seemingly very little idea that spreading falsity on something that can kill people

is a total lack of morality.

Ethics, which are decided by our western society determine that violence is wrong and

thus society/government delivers punishment to violent people

to deter them from aggressive behaviour in the future.

Aggression does not have to be physical

but you can have blood on your hands simply by doing what Icke and others did and do.

The point is that many actually believe them.

It is said men very often hit women and also cause lots of mental pressure on

women mainly those they live with.

This may be true but we would have to know the data and statistics to know if it is true

and this is important because moral duty also means knowing if something is a problem.

Morality as said before also means do not believe in things you  only assume to be true

but do not know if they are true.

So to be the first moral duty is to be sure of facts.

Secondly, we should understand that moral duty is anything that helps a fellow citizen.

In my opinion, the worst example of failing to maintain moral duty is that of having a

belief that you have no idea or facts to support it.

Everyone does have them but we should begin to

believe only in things we can prove.

Also before we cast judgements on others we should think about

 what we do ourselves.

1. What is the best guideline for a society. Should it be the one we have or something

better?

2, Ordinary people can be turned into monsters because of the morals in a society. Agree ?

3. People can change the morals of the past as Italy did in WW2 . First with Hitler and his

extermination camps  then confronting disaster and totally

losing the war they sided with the allies. The morals remembered today are that of siding

 with

the allies. So the question is only one is this a way of changing history?

4. As in the above question History is really about morals but should we judge the past

based on morals?

5. What is your strongest moral?

6. Does a society create morals based on its level of scientific advancement ?

THE TEN ORLANDOS

ADDICTION

5 Types of Behavioral Addictions Common Among Teens

Most people think of drugs and alcohol when they think of teen addiction. However, the illness of addiction can develop with certain rewarding behaviours as well. For instance, it’s possible for a teen to become addicted to the following five types of behaviours:

Internet: Research indicates that 1.4% to 17.9% of adolescents around the world are addicted to the Internet. However, addictions to Internet use are not as prevalent in the United States as they are in other countries. Typical signs that an adolescent has an Internet addiction include difficulty completing daily tasks, academic performance declining, losing track of time on the Internet, isolation from friends and family, and experiencing euphoria with Internet use.

Gambling: When teens lose their ability to limit their playing and spending habits, addiction might be setting in. According to YouthGambling.com, 4-7% of teens exhibit gambling addiction behaviour, which includes enjoying the rush of gambling; using the earnings of a win to stay in the game, versus walking away, and relies on loans from friends and families; doing anything to stay in the game and continue to gamble; focusing on winning big and will continue to play despite continued losses; and playing online, maxing out credit cards, if necessary, to continue to play.

Gaming: This type of addiction is the excessive use of video games. Although it is not currently recognized as a type of addiction, there is a growing movement to formally include this behaviour as a type of illness. A few symptoms of gaming addiction include lack of control over gaming behaviour, loss of time, negative impact on a teen’s life, hiding from negative or uncomfortable emotions, defensiveness, and difficulty completing tasks. If you find that your teen’s use of video games qualifies as addictive and compulsive, you might want to seek mental health services.

Sex: An addiction with sex includes compulsive behaviour where there is a loss of control and an adolescent spends large amounts of time engaging in sexual-related activity to the point where he or she is neglecting social, academic, or familial responsibilities. An addiction to sex includes obsessive thoughts about sex that disrupt functioning at school, home or at the workplace; an inability to refrain from viewing pornography or engaging in sexual behaviour; and avoiding time with friends or other typical teen activities to instead spend time on the computer or have sexual encounters.

Shopping: This kind of addiction is known as oniomania. Sadly, of all the addictions, it is the most reinforced by the media, advertising, billboards, and consumerism in general. About 6% of the U.S. population has a shopping addiction, which usually begins in late adolescence. A shopping addiction becomes the main way a person might be coping with stress to the point when it becomes excessive, severely affecting finances, relationships, and functioning.

There are various treatment methods for a behavioural addiction that is similar to treating alcohol or drug addiction. There are also rehabilitative centres that focus strictly on behavioural addictions. If the psychological cycle of highs and lows exist, addiction might be present which can lead to detrimental consequences. For this reason, seeking assistance from a mental health professional can help break the cycle and facilitate recovery.

THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION DISCUSSION

Mary; What do you think the main factors were regarding England being the first country to industrialize?

John; I think it was the fact it was an island first and foremost and therefore they were not ravaged by wars then after that I would say raw material and good colleges.

Mary; Yes it wasn't one factor but a combination

John; Yes its never one thing but a series of things that come together

Mary; Could it be that the people there in Great Britain were just more intelligent?

John; Intelligence could be a factor but we would have to use data and statistics to find that out and it is too late now.

Mary; What about all the coal?

John; Well other countries had coal but didn't use it for inventions that drove machines

Mary; What was the greatest invention in that age

John; Well I would have to say the steam engine that also created the railways

Mary  Why _

John  Because it was devastating. You could suddenly go places fast and therefore everything changed 100 per cent.

Fake Tans

Get a gorgeous winter glow with our pick of the best fake tans

Read more at http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/best/12198/0/fake-tans.html#rkodLjco0F8CthXD.99
Best for: the face
Get this: Non-streak bronzer from Clinique skin supplies for men
Why? Aside from obvious Tango tidemarks, smell is the one big tell-tale sign when it comes to faking it. This easily absorbed bronzer from Clinique is just about the only product on the market that doesn't reek of coconut or digestive biscuits. It is entirely odour-free which means that you can go in for a kiss without giving the game away. And it absorbs to its final colour instantly, meaning you don't have to prat about in the nud for hours waiting for it to dry. The only downside is that it doesn't contain an SPF. Not that that matters on a night out.
How much? £13 for 60ml
Where from? 0870 034 2566

Best for: hairless bodies
Get this: Express Hydrating Self-Tan Spray by Decleor
Why? Again, it's one of the least pungent products available and being a spray it is easy to apply fairly evenly. The tanning agents in this are 100% organic if you're worried about coating yourself in noxious creosote. Make sure you use the spray in a tiled bathroom, otherwise you might end up pebble-dashing the wood-chip.
How much? £20.50 for 150ml
Where from? 020 7313 8780

Best for: hairy bodies
Get this: Instant Bronze Foam by Lancaster
Why? Sprays are not as suitable for hairy bodies as the mist tends to coat the hairs rather than the frighteningly white skin lurking somewhere beneath the canopy. The more hirsute should opt for a cream, milk or foam. Sun experts Lancaster do one of each, Lord love ‘em. Go for this foam one which works straight away and washes off in a hot shower so you don't have to wait ages for it to work and then go away again.
How much? £17.50 for 150ml
Where from? 0800 376 0688

Best for: auto airbrushing
Get this: Bronze Expert from By Terry
Why? One of the benefits of the sun is that it tends to clear the skin up of any spots and pimples. This subtle stick fulfils that function to combine smoothing correction with a just-stepped-off-the-beach look. Only without the sand getting everywhere.
How much? £38 for 17ml
Where from? www.spacenk.com  020 8740 2085

Best for: building up a subtle tan
Get this: Holiday Skin Body Lotion by Johnson's
Why? Not everyone wants to suddenly turn a livid shade of Oompa loompa overnight. It tends to prompt awkward questions than elicit even more awkward lies: "Oooh, been anywhere nice?" or "What's Willy Wonka like to work for?" For a more subtle effect, build up slowly with this cheap-as-chips body lotion that contains a small amount of tanning ingredient. You will need to scrub it off completely every few days though – it begins to get a bit icky in a Jodi Marsh kind of way after a while.
How much? £4.95 for 250ml
Where from? Your local BootsTest the product on an unexposed area, like your inner wrists, to see how your skin reacts to it.
2. Wash and exfoliate your face and body thoroughly before applying the product (so as to wash away any dead skin, which can make the tan uneven and blotchy). Concentrate on areas that are prone to excessive dryness like your joints (elbows, ankles and knees).
3. Once your face and body are dry, apply the product. On your face, apply it only to the upper cheeks, forehead and nose, which will mimic the effect of a natural tan. (Note: Any application of a self-tanner to your beard area can result in an uneven, fake-looking tan because skin pigments are deeper in that area.) On your body, apply the self-tanner by rubbing it onto your skin in circular motions (rather than up and down) and use less tanner on your joints. Depending on the product, you may have to re-apply several times during the first day of use in order to see a difference.
4. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after use (self-tanners can stain your clothing and can also show up on your hands, resulting in blotchiness), or better yet, use latex gloves when applying the product.
5. Don't get dressed for at least 15 minutes after applying the product.
An inexpensive product from a local pharmacy may be just as good as those offered in upper scale retail outlets and specialty stores. You may want to try several products to see which one works best with your own skin and coloring; in this case, it is about trial and error. A patch test (again, on the inside of your wrists) while you're in the store can be a good indication of expected results.
Products come in a range of color depths, depending on the level of concentration of the active ingredient. It is far more cost-effective to opt for the darkest shade of tanning cream and apply it more sparingly in order to obtain the same results as a lighter shade of the same product.
Self-tanning product suggestions
Neutrogena offers a very natural-looking line of inexpensive products that are hypoallergenic and won't block pores. Its cream is particularly light by comparison to many other brands, and leaves skin looking matte — a particularly good thing if you're prone to breakouts and/or have an oily complexion.
California North also offers a notable self-tanning product; its "Titanium Self Tanner" also serves as a minimal sunscreen with an SPF of 7, offering protection from the sun while you reap the rewards of a sunless tan.
A personal favorite is Sea & Ski's "Deep Dark Sunless Self Tanning Lotion." This product is by far one of the most inexpensive and effective on the market, offering the deepest possible tan for about $6 US a tube. Armed with vitamin E oils, its moisturizing effect may tend to make your skin look oily after application, but the long-term results are excellent.
3- Maintain your color Now that you've been to the tanning salon and found a sunless tanning lotion that works for you, how do you make your tan last? The answers lie in moisturizing and consistent re-application of a self-tanning product.
Moisturize
Moisturizing your skin will keep it looking healthy and hydrated, and helps in the anti-aging process. It's important to moisturize year round, especially when tanned, as it prevents your skin from peeling.
Make sure to moisturize consistently following a trip to the tanning salon; this will serve to prolong your tan. Keep in mind that color obtained from a visit to the tanning salon can be maintained by visiting the salon as little as once a month.
Apply tanning creams
The beauty of sunless tanning products is that they usually double up as moisturizers (it's therefore advisable to alternate between a sunless tanning cream and your favorite moisturizer). Make sure to wash your face twice daily, especially when using such products so as to scrub away any excess residue.

SPECIAL PROMISE: Added moisturisers give the body smoother, firmer contours.
EASE OF APPLICATION: The mousse is brown so you can see which bits you’ve missed. Use a mitt.
SMELL: That cloying fake-tan smell was very strong as I applied the mousse. But it disappeared quickly once it dried.
COLOUR: Exactly the kind of  sun-kissed tan that fair-skinned women like me hanker after. And no streaks either!
FADE: Gradual (and streak free) over the course of five days.
SCORE: 9.5/10 (half a point deducted as I saw no evidence of body-sculpting).

Famous Dave’s Gradual 10 Self Tanner (£17.99)

SPECIAL PROMISE: Natural active ingredients, antioxidants and organic oils.
EASE OF APPLICATION: A white lotion (colourless products make me nervous about coverage) but this one was very light and easily absorbed which made it easier to apply several layers.
SMELL: It had a stronger fake-tan smell than I would have hoped from a product that pushes its natural and organic properties.
COLOUR: The mid-caramel colour developed very nicely and was completely non-streaky.
FADE: This one lasted quite a long time and I was still tanned a  week later.
SCORE: 9/10.

Soltan Beautiful Bronze  Self-Tan Mousse — Light/Medium (£9.99)

SPECIAL PROMISE: A long-lasting summer scent.
EASE OF APPLICATION: Extreme care is needed when dispensing this product. Very little pressure on the nozzle released a ball of mousse the size of a tennis ball. Who knows what state the bathroom would have been in if I’d been more heavy-handed...
SMELL: Finally a product that really doesn’t smell of fake tan. The smell instead was delicate and faintly floral.
COLOUR: The initial colour of the product on my skin was quite alarming, more pink than brown. I looked as though I’d been in an industrial accident. However  once the tan developed a few hours later, the pinkness disappeared and I was left with quite a strong tan. It was too dark for me but if you want a deep tone this one will suit.
FADE: Fade was even and happened over five days.
SCORE: 7/10
