AXIOM WITH WRONG LOGIC

The idea of the following is that people wanting to assume that something is true as a starting point for all the other things based on that is a true recipe for disaster.

An axiom, postulate or assumption is a statement that is taken to be true, to serve as a premise or starting point for further reasoning and arguments. The word comes from the Greek axíōma 'that which is thought worthy or fit' or 'that which commends itself as evident.'

The term has subtle differences in definition when used in the context of different fields of study. As defined in +classic philosophy an axiom is a statement that is so evident or well-established, that it is accepted without controversy or question. As used in modern logic, an axiom is a premise or starting point for reasoning.

As used in maths, the term axiom is used in two related but distinguishable senses: logical axioms " and "non-logical axioms". Logical axioms are usually statements that are taken to be true.

Any axiom is a statement that serves as a starting point from which other statements are logically derived. Obviously, if the axiom is wrong then it's all wrong, that which follows. So you want things to be the way you want them to be. Therefore a wrong beginning can be construed as wishful thinking and the beginning of all disasters.

Sod's law is a British culture axiom that "if something can go wrong, it will", sometimes also made to include that it will happen at "the worst possible time". The term is commonly used in the United Kingdom.

It happens a lot but it is not in any way a scientific law but even as an untrue axiom it's always worth remembering this so-called law because it teaches you to pay attention to detail. in this case, an axiom that's wrong can be a starting point because we know it's wrong but often true.

One of the most ridiculous assumptions ever made was that of the Vietnam war < the idea was that if Vietnam went commie all of South East Asia would go too. This axiom was called the domino effect. If one falls it all falls .

Like Sods Law it was impossible to say if this was true but nevertheless it was presumed and hundreds of thousands died, In the end, Vietnam won the war but South East Asia didn't go commie. If before the war someone has seriously examined the idea of the domino effect and if it was true then something could have been done to avoid disaster.

Probably America just invented the domino effect because they wanted an excuse to invade. The Uncle Ben rice lobby had been lobbying the government to take an armed stand against Ho Chi Minh who wanted to nationalise their rice paddies.

People do these things also because of trends in that lemmings follow lemmings and in the end, they all go off the cliff together. averting this behaviour are the truly great heroes who have always been the ones to offer alternative behaviour.

Mavericks along the way say "hold on! Is this really true?" And after, many are derided or hated because whatever you say in public you will be judged. You have to have the guts to be judged even if what you are saying is the truth and you can prove it

1.Why do people assume something is true?

2.In my opinion most people are like dead wood and the truth sets them alight and burns to their soul .What do you think?

3. Whats the most ridiculous axiom you have ever heard ?

4.Truth comes mainly from good data and analysis never from opinion or from the media.

Do you agree?
